Microsoft and Salesforce have been competing for a while now, at least with their respective CRM systems. It’s been an ongoing feud, but as of this past Thursday, the two companies have announced that they will be teaming up to allow Microsoft’s phones and Windows operating systems to be a bit more user-friendly. By combing the the Salesforce CRM apps with Microsoft Office, customers will be able to be a lot more productive in the way that they conduct business.
Now that the two companies have decided to stand together, instead of separately, there are a few features that will become available to users of both. Customers will now be able to access Salesforce directly from their Windows phone for one, making business more mobile. They’ve also allowed a Salesforce app be developed specifically for Microsoft Outlook. Lastly, and arguably the biggest feature, customers will now be able to open and work with the content they have on Salesforce all directly through the Windows OS.
As one would expect, both companies are announcing that they’re excited to be working with the other, and they should be. The CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, was quoted saying “Working together, we will deliver new solutions that connect the customer insights of Salesforce to the cloud productivity of Office 365, the cloud platform of Azure and the mobility of Windows, so our customers can do more.” Even Microsoft knows when another company has good things working in their favor, and when times like that happen, it’s better for companies to come together so that everyone can stand to make a profit. Not to mention the fact that now customers using Salesforce and Microsoft can be a bit more connected than they were before. I guess the old saying is completely true; If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!
